Description

A creamy, tangy, and nutrient-rich Mediterranean dip made from chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, and garlic perfect for snacks, spreads, or gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (15-ounce) can chickpeas, rinsed (or 1 1/2 cups cooked chickpeas)
  • 1/4 cup tahini
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • Salt, to taste
  • Water (as needed for consistency)
Optional Garnishes: Olive oil, paprika, chopped parsley, toasted pine nuts

Instructions

  1. Rinse chickpeas and optionally peel for smoother texture.
  2. In a food processor, blend tahini and lemon juice until creamy.
  3. Add chickpeas, garlic, olive oil, cumin, and salt. Blend until smooth.
  4. Gradually add water to adjust consistency.
  5. Transfer to a bowl and garnish as desired.
  6. Serve with pita bread, vegetables, or use as a spread.

Notes

  • Roasting the garlic can add extra depth of flavor.
  • Blend longer or peel chickpeas for ultra-smooth hummus.
  • Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days or freeze in portions.
