A hearty and indulgent dish that combines creamy Alfredo sauce, tender chicken, melted mozzarella, and garlic bread into one unforgettable experience. Perfect for family meals, gatherings, or a comforting dinner, this recipe is easy to prepare and endlessly customizable.

Ingredients

– 1 large French bread loaf (approximately 12 inches long)

– 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded or diced (rotisserie chicken works great!)

– 1 cup Alfredo sauce (store-bought or homemade)

– 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

– 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

– 2 cloves garlic, minced

– 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

– Optional add-ins:

– 1 cup fresh spinach leaves

– 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms

– 1/4 cup roasted red peppers, chopped

– 4 slices of bacon, cooked and crumbled

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. Slice the French bread loaf horizontally to create a top and bottom half. Hollow out the center slightly to make room for the filling, leaving about 1/2 inch of bread around the edges.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked chicken, Alfredo sauce, and optional add-ins (spinach, mushrooms, roasted red peppers, or bacon). Mix well.
  4. Spread the chicken mixture evenly over the bottom half of the bread. Top generously with shredded mozzarella cheese. Place the top half of the bread back onto the filled bottom half.
  5. In a small bowl, mix the melted butter and minced garlic. Brush the garlic butter generously over the outside of the bread for maximum flavor.
  6. Place the assembled sub onto the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the bread is golden brown.
  7. Remove from the oven, let it cool slightly, and garnish with fresh parsley if desired. Slice into portions and serve warm.

Notes

– For a healthier option, substitute Alfredo sauce with Greek yogurt or low-fat cream cheese. Use whole-grain bread and reduce the amount of cheese.

– Customize with additional toppings like roasted vegetables, different cheeses (provolone, cheddar), or proteins (sausage, ham, turkey).

– Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat in the oven at 350°F for 10 minutes to maintain texture.
