Description

Beef and Broccoli Stir Fry is a classic Asian-inspired dish made with tender beef, crisp broccoli, and a savory umami-packed sauce. Ready in under 30 minutes, it’s perfect for busy weeknights, meal prep, or family dinners. Served with rice or noodles, this dish offers a satisfying balance of protein, vegetables, and bold flavors.

Ingredients

Scale

For the beef & marinade:

  • 1 lb flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp grated ginger

For the sauce:

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water (slurry)

For the stir fry:

  • 3 cups fresh broccoli florets
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil (for cooking)
  • Optional: 1 bell pepper, sliced; 1 carrot, sliced

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, marinate sliced beef with soy sauce, cornstarch, garlic, and ginger for 15–30 minutes.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, and cornstarch slurry. Set aside.
  3. Heat oil in a wok or skillet over high heat. Stir-fry beef in batches until browned but not fully cooked. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same pan, stir-fry broccoli (and optional vegetables) until tender-crisp.
  5. Return beef to the pan, pour in sauce, and stir until everything is coated and the sauce thickens.
  6. Garnish with sesame seeds or green onions if desired. Serve hot with rice or noodles.

Notes

  • Slice beef thinly against the grain for tenderness.
  • Add chili flakes, sriracha, or chili oil for spice.
  • Store leftovers in the fridge for 3 days or freeze separately for up to 3 months.
  • Reheat in a skillet to maintain texture.
  • Substitute chicken, shrimp, or tofu for variety.
